Well, all I can say is, find an outlet for the stress. Terry was 47 when the stress from his job almost killed him. 3 heart attacks in 1 week. He actually did go back to work. Then when he started passing out, the doctor told him, "Yes, you can go back to work. You will be dead in a year." So at 50 he went on disability. Not what we had planned, but we made it work. I continued to work for 5 years and took retirement (I taught school) the first year I could, at age 55. We had decided prior to my retirement to go full time. He was literally house bound during the coldest winter months because even taking out the trash in freezing weather resulted in a face plant on the deck. Indiana was not going to be possible in the winter and have any kind of life.
So hit the road we did and we are still going. He is still having health challenges, but we deal with them on the road if we have to. He still sees his primary care physician and his cardiologist twice a year in Indy. But we are happy doing what we are doing.
Just remember, stress is a game changer. At 47, Terry's heart could take no more. . . none of this retiring at 62 or anything. He was done at age 50. We had always lived frugally and it really paid off for us. We still had boats and RV's, but they weren't the latest and greatest. We still had fun and when Terry had to quit work, we were able to manage.
