Good morning everyone. It's 35 degrees here this morning, Tomorrow we can expect a high of 47 degrees and rain all day. Today I will go with another deacon of the church, Doug Rice to visit the shut in's and give them communion and also give them a basket of fruit.
Christmas is almost here, just a few more days. This year has gone by in a hurry. Last spring Dan and Dan came for a visit and then we all went to Hilton Head Island for a week. Sue and I came back home while Dan and Dan went down to Florida. Then later in the summer Sue and I went to Savannah for a week and enjoyed the campground and the city.
Last October Sue and I traveled to Ohio for the get together at Berlin and that was about the extent of our travels for the year. This year it will be less traveling as we cut back on our spending and travels. We still plan to be at Sevierville next October to meet with the group that was apart of the Old Fella Rallies.
I have a first cousin named Roy Sweat and his wife Billie that are 86 and 87 years old and still going strong. Roy plays tennis at least once a week staying in shape. His sister Betty just turned 90 and still going strong. Their brother I.T. Sweat is somewhere in his 80's along with his wife Lavern. I.T. and Lavern still have a camper and go often. So I come from a long line of folks that live long and active lives. All of my mother's family lived well into their 80's and ninety's. It looks as if I have my mother's genes and hope to be active a few more years. I say all of that to say this, I don't know what lies ahead but Sue and I will try to enjoy each other and stay active as much as possible for as long as we can.
It's a small world we live in. Dr. Bill Owen a retired pastor who lives just across the way from us and is a member of Reddy Fork Baptist Church where Sue and I attend told me Monday He once lived in Waycross, Georgia where my mother was born and raised. He knew of my grandparents and family. He and I served in the Augusta area in the same Baptist association for years and now we are neighbors here in Piedmont, South Carolina.
Changing gears, the Old Fella Rescue just sent another van load of fur babies to NES in New England. So many lives have been saved and changed for the better because of Old Fella. So much has happened in the past thirteen years its hard to keep up with it all. Thank you for your faithfulness in helping to keep the memory of Old Fella alive.
Okay enough rambling and carrying on. I want to wish everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them. Merry Christmas.
