Duchess died this morning. She has become deaf as well as blind and stopped eating over the weekend. I tried everything and some things worked. . . for a meal, then back to not eating. Blood sugars, which had been regulated were all over the place. I tried so hard with her. She is almost 13. This morning she refused chicken, her favorite and was so weak she couldn't stand. I had called the vet and had an appointment, but called back and they saw us right away. She had a fever and was having trouble breathing. I suppose we could have tried antibiotics and other stuff, but she would still be blind and deaf. She was not enjoying anything anymore. . . not even bones or treats. So we said our goodbyes. We are devastated.
