Our area has issues with coyotes as well. I've only seen one near our house but my mom who lives about 10 miles away has seen several in her neighborhood.
I am a little worried about Murphy. A few weeks before she had her abscessed tooth removed, she had been coughing during the night. She sleeps in a doggie bed in the corner of our bedroom at night. She had been licking and biting herself due to her skin condition so I though maybe she was getting a hair ball like cats sometimes do. When I took her to the vet for her tooth removal, he said it could have been caused by the infection in her mouth.
Now she is totally healed and seems to feel fine but the couching is getting worse. She doesn't cough constantly but throughout the day she will cough. Her yearly vet appointment for her shots and checkup isn't until next month but I am thinking I might need to take her to the vet to get checked out. Even though she is old, she is still extremely active and seems to feel fine.
