I guess this situation between Hobo and Mama is a very good illustration of why Richard felt the need to separate the four sister dogs from the dumpster. Especially seeing the bond between Anna and Suzie. If they continued to live together, being inseperable over the years would bring heartache and pain when one has to travel to the Rainbow Bridge. Like the mourning we humans do when our family leaves us.
