Folks who have a problem with campfires probably need to be looking for a different recreational activity.
It's not a properly lite CG, it's campers who don't know how to start them, put them out and burn their garbage in them.
yup campfires are synonymous with RV'ing and having a good time come nightfall. A good burning campfire that is.
EXCEPT:
When people do not know how to start a fire, burn plastics and garbage in the fire pits, don't know how to put a fire out and let it smoke and smoke and smoke, etc. etc. etc. And all of us campfire lovers know darn straight this is usually not the exception but the norm at CG's.
Those of us who DO know how to build and maintain a good fire I think are the ones that are the most disturbed by being parked in close quarters to these garbage riddled smoking fire pits at a CG.
No I do not enjoy pulling into a CG for the night and not being able to breath and having to roll up my windows because the neighbor camper has chosen to give up trying to get his campfire lit and is leaving it smoke and smolder all night long.
Over the years I have seen more and more CG's changing their campfire policy to 'no campfires'.
Common courtesy and some smarts about building and lighting a clean burning fire is what is really needed. You don't have either one don't start a fire in a CG.
