I wrote about Dixie Dew getting loose for a few minutes in Hershey PA last year. She found something in the woods, rolled in it, ate a little and this was when we had hooked the TT to the tow vehicle. We rode about 375 miles with a really stinky dog in my lap!!! When we got home I cleaned her up and she got diarrhea. It was stuck in her fur--another bath. We were on poo watch all night. We had several baths before it was over. I called the vet and told her I wanted to give Dixie Immodium. She said I could give her 1/3 of a tablet. That Immodium could be harmful to the dog if I gave her more. I think she had 3 doses in 24 hrs and she was fine. This is the first time she has ever had a gastric upset. She rarely throws up. I guess I am really lucky!!
I was wondering how much Immodium do others give to their dogs. Have you ever heard of it being toxic in small amounts? If I had not had a vet available, I would have probably given her 1/2 to a full tablet. I guess it is important to check with the vet before administering OTC drugs.
