Richard,
I was so sorry to read of the loss of Fella, it just broke my heart. There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said :(
Charlie sounds like a handful :) As far as the incontinence goes, I have first hand experience with that. When we got Riley from a rescue group at 11 months old, we were already her fourth home, we found out why soon enough, she would pee in her sleep. She would let us know she had to go out if she was awake; but just went if she was sleeping; naturally it was on our bed most of the time. Vet wasn't sure if it was spay incontinence or just poor bladder control. After ruling out any infections or kidney problems he prescribed Proin50. The directions called for twice a day; but the vet said to try just once a day and that did the trick. After she was on it for about a year or so, we took her off to see if she would be ok, and she was for about two years and then started having the problem again, so she's back on it and no more problems. Best of luck with him!!! Nancy
Another Proin user here. Mackenzie, the Siberian Husky that was fortunate enough to meet Levi and Fella at Four Paws, had similar problems - she would piddle in her sleep. Our vet called it spay incontinence, even though she wasn't spayed too early. The vet just thinks she has a low estrogen level, which causes weakness in the muscles that hold in the pee. She gets a pill twice a day. We tried cutting back to once a day, but after she piddled a couple of times we went back to twice a day and no more piddling.
