Family story passed down, suggested we had a gr,gr,gr,gr grandfather that died at the alamo. (there is a family name listed on the memorial) We knew that for a long time but finally got around to looking into the geneology and discovered that it was a great uncle that died at the Alamo and his brother (our grandfather) avenged his death later at the battle of San Jacinto. I also found a copy of an original deed in his name issued by the Republic of Texas for 600 acres of land in the Texas hill Country near Johnson City, TX. Family stories suggest the land was later swindled from the family by the Johnson family .
