We drove Top of the World in 2012 in a class A pulling a pick-up with no problems. Dawson City is worth at least three days if you want to experience it all. There is a ton of mining history in the area and even several active mines. We drove from Tok to Dawson City the middle of September. I would recommend doing it in the fall as they work on the road all summer repairing winter damage. Also if you wait until mid September there is a good chance the road will be frozen and you won't have to deal with the dust or the mud. We spent the night in Chicken before leaving early in the morning headed for Dawson City. The border does not open until 8:00 am so if you leave early it cuts down on the traffic you will meet. This is an all day drive for two reasons: gravel road and absolutely beautiful scenery. Another advantage of doing it in the fall is the vegetation will have the post first frost colors. (Brilliant yellows, purples, reds, and greens)
Go slow, enjoy the scenery, sleep in your own bed in Dawson City. It doesn't get any better than that!
