30 Road Trip Across America

Hello,

I am hoping some of you can provide advice. Myself, my brother and cousin, all in our early twenties, are planning a cross country road trip for two years from now, in our RV. We live in upstate New York and have traveled extensively across the east coast but would like to see other areas of America. I have used a travel website to plan an itinerary and would like some feedback regarding the trip. Any suggestions on better routes, other things to see, length of the trip, etc., would be appreciated. We plan on traveling for no more than 30 days. Here is the link that outlines the trip: https://www.myscenicdrives.com/road-trip-directions?i=601209ed-c2c0-4f09-9183-c74049ac3977. The website also has a button called “Include daily maps”, which will show the daily routes. The site may be a bit slow when first loading.

Thank you for your time!

Shane
  • Good luck with your trip. It does seem like a lot of driving.
I agree with others, break up the trip and take more time to see the sites. RVing isn't a race.

Another option would be to Drive to 48 States in 106 Hours.. :)

Whatever you decide, enjoy the trip. And, be careful.
  • Waaaay too much driving and you'll see virtually nothing. For instance, one night in Yosemite after a cable car ride and driving the Golden Gate Bridge? Remember, in the parks you'll often find speed limits of 35 MPH (or less with traffic).

    Or day 7:
    •Forney Museum of Transportation
    •16th Street Outdoor Mall
    •Denver Nightlife District
•Drive up (Denver to 4 corners is eight hours of non-stop driving.)

My recommendation: Head straight to Denver from NY. West to Yosemite, then to the coast. Complete your loop from there. Still waaaay too much, but at least doable. Your itinerary is more like a rushed three month trip.
  • In my opinion you are cramming to much in.
I think you would be better off eliminating places and spending more time exploring others.
For example New Orleans; you plan to explore the French Quarter of New Orleans. The Big Easy is so much more than just the French quarter and the French Quarter during the day is nothing like the French Quarter at night
