In Connecticut along the shore there is Hammonassette State Park, right on Long Island Sound. No hookups, but really nice park and neat small towns in the area.
Mystic Seaport - a bunch of campgrounds in the area (including Mystic KOA).
Inland a bit is Gillete Castle State Park. No campground there, but many nearby campgrounds (like Wolf's Den private campground with hookups - there is a Wolf's Den State Park campground, but it doesn't have hookups). If you could catch a show at Goodspeed Opera House while you are there you really would have a good time!
Lots of other places to go and things to do if you have the time!
