Those aren't real switchbacks, just 180 deg curves. You've driven worse on freeway on ramps. And the typical 90deg street intersection turn is much tighter.
Zoom in on Google Maps with Sat view. Compare the loops with the WA123 intersection at the base of the hill. Or the parking lot for Tipsoo Lake. Or the view point parking lot just on the other side of the pass.
