My only caution would be that the most scenic areas on the west side before you get to those switchbacks are also interesting when heading eastbound due to the total lack of guardrails ...... just to your right and before the steep drop of hundreds of feet. Not for the squeamish. Just keep your attention on the road and pull over to look at the views and you will be fine. It is one of my favorite drive, for sure.
