A drive to Prince Rupert is in order.....

Apparently Alaska is in line for a major storm this weekend, bringing early winter and maybe some extra high tides. Those that predict these things suggest that northern Canada will get to share in the event. Freezing temps, snow, etc etc....the usual.

Sounds like a perfect weekend for a drive to Prince Rupert. We'll boogie out of here tonight, hunker down somewhere out of Terrace for the night and motor along to Rupert Saturday. Maybe dinner at the Crest Saturday night...we'll have to see.

  • Looks beautiful, Gary. Wish we were there!

Today's high in Denver is supposed to be 12 degrees F and the low this morning was -1. It started lightly snowing Monday PM and is still snowing today. Of course the TV is calling it a "polar vortex," the forecaster's new favorite dire winter "weather-speak" for any front coming down from northern Canada.
  • I just needed a reason..any reason will do, so a STORM..well now...Mostly because the forecast showed for sun in Prince Rupert and we have had rain for a lifetime here.

Then, we met up with some people that Sharon knows and they asked.."here for the blues concert?" eh? Thus, we got to attend a very funky blues concert/dance at Chances Casino. What a great time.

The Blog entry is now up and it has more information/text ...here are some without all the text

  • so far this big storm just melted our snow. Lots of rain. Not a good day to be on the water though.
  • THIS is a very, very good reason to go to Rupert this week. Sunshine!! Sorry about your storm, Alaska.
  • OK, Gary, I have to ask -- why is a big storm a reason to go to Prince Rupert?? Are there places to camp where you can watch the storm come in over the water?

    Good luck, and drive carefully!
