Forum Discussion
- Dog_FolksExplorerBriansue: You have concerns and problems with the post. I agree it is outdated information, and the crime rate in the United States versus Mexico has been discussed here many, many times.
May I suggest you notify a moderator?
It is their job to determine what is appropriate and in what forum. - TequilaExplorerI do not think pianotuner meant anything by it, but we do get sick of people who have never driven an RV across the border coming here & lecturing us on it.
It is like us posting on the RVing in The US and Canada section lecturing people on driving to Colorado or Connecticut because there have been mass shootings there. - briansueExplorer
You have some interest. Just sayin...
What I have no interest in is a post on an RV forum that has nothing to do with RVing. This is about crime - and cartels in both Mexico and the US. Lots of places are unsafe. Lots of places have cartels - and organized crime - mafia - crips & bloods - the list goes on and on. Does any of it have more or less to do with RVing? What interest is there on an RVing forum in this nonsense. Interested only in getting it removed from a forum it does not belong on. Should we all start posting about mafia and crips & bloods and organized crime? There are two maps linked by the post - one of cartels in Mexico and one of cartels in the US. So cartels are everywhere. Once again the question is why is it relevant to RVing and why is on this forum. Look at the US map of cartels linked and tell me where you are safe. Now add in the rest of the crime in the US and tell me where you are safe......Just sayin is right!!!! - Dog_FolksExplorer

I actually have no personal knowledge of cartels having never met, seen, or encountered any. I have no interest in them and they have no interest in me. So I have no interest in your post that is totally unrelated to me.
So you take the time to post this? Besides the 1431 words in a post above. I would say you disagree with the initial post, and that is O.K. You have some interest. Just sayin... - briansueExplorerpianotuna

I simply cannot see what people see in Yuma. Most who go into Mexico for a winter continue to go, even thoguh it is no longer cheap down here. Most eventually end up selling their RV's & flying & hotel rooming it or rent a bungalow, somewhere. A lot store them down here, then fly. I do not think I have even met anyone who went back to snowbirding in the US.
For eg, you can store an RV at Chimulco near Guadalajara for $50 a month in a patrolled secure park at high altitude (no humidity issues)and then just drive your towing vehicle down or just stay there. Many others have permanent RVs at Laguna Del Tule in Melaque under permanent Palapas. They charge about 3.5k a year. - pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
My destination of choice is Florida for personal reasons. Mexico may happen when I fully retire. - TequilaExplorer

A better map would be one showing where it's safe to put your kids in school for the winter without getting shot.
I'm sure the NY Times desk jockey would know.
LOL, good point. I am sure pianotuna was not trying to troll, I have not seen him here before. Pianotuna, have you ever actually taken an RV into Mexico? If not give it a go, by yourself, with friends or in a caravan. I am sure your perspective will change.
Excuse me, I now have to go duck for cover from the shootout happening in my RV Park. - qtla9111NomadOr where to go to the movies, shop in a mall, walk on a university campus, safely! Hmm, I do all that here in Mexico. Interesting.
