Although I-44 between Oklahoma City and Tulsa can be a little faster, there are more hills and trucks to deal with than taking I-40. If you decide to take I-40 you can go north on Hwy 75 at Henryetta toward Tulsa to get back to I-44. This way adds 15 to 20 minutes to the drive, but it is much less stressful. As you get to Tulsa on Hwy 75, take the Creek Turnpike east around Tulsa and pick up I-44 again on the east side of Tulsa. The Creek Turnpike has very light traffic once you pass Memorial Drive, so it is much easier on the nerves than taking I-44 through Tulsa.
