I'm having my firearm shipped to AK and the US licensed gun dealer says there should be no problem taking my ammo across the Canadian border but I want to make sure.
During three crossings into Canada on my Alaska trip in 2014 I was a only asked about firearms, never ammunition. I had neither. Up to 200 rounds of hunting ammunition is allowed. It is also relatively inexpensive to ship firearms to an FFL in Tok, AK. Shipping them back to a lower 48 FFL as well. UPS or US Postal Service, plus a transfer fee, usually $25, to the FFL.
