Any safety issues these days?

Hello all;

We are planning to run our coach from central Florida out to Fort Collins Colorado and then back to Pennsylvania. We will be going through places which have been on the news in recent days like Atlanta, St. Louis, Chicago etc via the interstates. We are a little nervous about what we might run into by way of protesters etc, we have actually had I95 down here blocked this past weekend. Has anyone had any issues while traveling through cities in recent days?

Thanks,

Joel

  • Security is an illusion. Stay on your path and don't be looking for trouble and you should be fine.
  • These protests and demonstrations normally take place in the "downtown" areas of cities,around the police station or their government buildings.

    Keep moving stat out of city centers, no reason for you to be there while traveling through anyway.

    My guess is that this trip will be a total non event for you. You are being scared for nothing!

    Thanks everyone for your input. We are planning to leave on the 16th, a week from Tuesday. Hopefully things will calm down more by then. Scary times to say the least.
  • Unless you have to or really want to go through the major cities, I would stick to the US highways as much as possible. US-84 is a good East/West highway through Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. From Natchez, US-61 runs North along the Mississippi River. From Greenville, US-82 will take you west to Wichita Falls. US-287 will take you West to Amarillo and then North to US-50 East of Peublo, CO.

    Something to be aware of - the City of Fort Collins has an ordinance in place requiring a face mask in all public places and social distancing is still encouraged. Many businesses have 6ft circles on their floors,designating how far apart customers are, and have and will ask non-compliant customers to either comply or leave. Many businesses are taking tempuratures before you can enter. There is a restriction still in place on restaurants and many have not reopened. Some won't reopen at all.

    Outside Fort Collins, in Larimer County, the same rules to follow are encouraged but there is no county ordinance. Many businesses are voluntarily following the Fort Collins ordinance.

    This is not a political statement. This is simply facts for you to be an informed visitor to our area.
  • Whatever anyone says today is only true for today. Who knows what those nut cases will do tomorrow?

  • Stay away from driving through Atlanta. The nutcases were outtrying to shut down oneof the interstates for a while. National Guard pretty much stopped that stuff
