Anyone bought a truck/Rv registered in a company name?

I know you need to get a notarized letter even if you own the company yourself. Anyone gone through this. A friend of mine is thinking of going and he owns the company his truck is registered under.

  • If you are not listed as the owner of the vehicle on the registration, you have to have a letter of permission from the owner of the vehicle. Even if you own the company!

That letter of permission should be on company letterhead and including the vin number, dates that you will be in Mexico, signed by the company head, and notarized.

The regulation doesn't specifically list ALL of these exact requirements but the border inspectors are really into official looking documents. Especially if they don't read English.

That totally depends on the state/province you live in. Title and registration are a state controlled item. In my state the company can buy vehicles by paying for it via company check, registering it in the company name.

    Yes ,

My tow vehicle was in the company name up until this year when I transferred it into my name for insurance reasons... Paid the down payment with a company check and went through Ford Credit for the payments...
