- thesarge7ExplorerThere is a local mechanic about 30 minutes south of Guadalajara, just outside Jocotepec, on hwy 15, known as Carr. Guadalajara/Morelia about 6 km NORTH of El Crucero on the EAST side of the road. (Do not confuse him with Salvadores who is across the road on the WEST side much closer to El Crucero). It will be at the intersection across from the PEMEX station. I got the following off Google maps (Jocotepec JALISCO GPS 20.319495, -103.492181) Google Map
He worked on my turbo on my 2004 Ford Superduty diesel and did a good job. He came highly recommended by some of the local businesses that use heavy duty diesel trucks for delivery. He also works on buses, and heavy equipment. Local mechanics bring their heavy duty work and diesel issues to him.
His place is nothing fancy, in fact, if you blink, you may miss it. Look for all the trucks and buses parked out front. There is no sign and it could pass for a junk yard. You would not know it was a mechanic if I had not mentioned it here. (WHAT do you expect, this is Mexico!!! They don't use fancy signage or extravagant entrances)
He lives upstairs from the garage and it is located on the dirt road that runs parallel to the highway. On the Southeast corner of the main road in to the small pueblo of Zapotitan de Hidalgo.
Gregorro Cueves, Cel phone 33-39-55-59-79 He does NOT speak English and this number is about a year old, so I am not sure if it is still active.
Best of luck. Feel free to contact me if you need any more info. We have been living in Joco for the last 3 years and have gotten to know our way around. - Canada_IrlExplorerYou might try to google or search for a Bosch fuel injection shop. Yellow pages??
- moishehExplorerI would start with a large Chev dealer that sells trucks. Even if they cannot do the service they may be able to steer you onto someone who can help. I may be wrong but I think GM is now selling Dmax equipped trucks in Mexico. If so they will have the diagnostic equipment. Parts is another story. If they are not available in Mexico the parts would come from the USA to Mexico City and then to Guad. Some GM dealers in Mexico bypass GM. They have a Nextel phone and simply call a US GM dealer close to the border where they speak Spanish. The parts are carried across the border and fast shipped to Guad. If you are still under warranty make sure you save all the old parts and you can make a claim NOB. Remember this is Mexico and everything is possible!
Moisheh - briansueExplorerNo idea but I did some Googling and maybe got some leads. You may have already tried this - but maybe contacting some listed mechanics will lead you where you need to go - they may do the work or else know someone who does. Last year we visited a Ford dealer near San Jose del Tajo where they did work on Ford diesels so maybe there is a GM/Chevy around somewhere too. Isuzu makes the Dmax for GM so maybe they will know something too? - - - Googling took me to places that custom made hydraulic hoses and airlines a couple years ago. - - - I think places exist but finding them is the trick.
