We were going to make the drive!! Soooo, the question is,have any of you made the drive with a sizeable rv. We are not timid to steep, curvy roads....but there is a limit! Thanks for any and all help.

Never in a RV, but with the Cherokee several times. I think that you would like US 60 better.

if that,s the dirt road that goes to apache lake ?yes I,ve driven it in a truck.I think there,s a sign before you get on the road that says some thing about lenght. its a long slow twisty road.not really a place to take a rv but it was a great adventure and had lunch at the marina rest . brings you out at the roosevelt dam.

Not recommended for large vehicles!If you have not seen it check this out Apache TrailMake the loop as a day trip in your truck then take 60 when you move. The first 14 miles from Apache Junction are paved and there is even a campground at Tortilla Flat. After that the road turns to gravel and some of it is a very steep down hill section.

I did it one time in a 4x4 SUV pulling a 20' travel trailer. There is no way I'd consider doing it again. And remember, this is the height of monsoon season in Arizona until sometime in September. You could experience flash flooding at any time.

Been there many times camping at Burnt Corral. You are way, way over the length limit, not to mention the width and height. You would be stuck at the rock overhang at Fish Kill Hill and be faced with an impossible task backing up a steep dirt road for quite a bit. Don't even think about it.

US60 is a very nice drive. I did drive arizona 88 in a rental car a few years ago.

I wanna Thank everyone for their input. As much as I hate to "double back"...It appears that "Discretion is the better part of valor"! We will certainly make the drive, tho without the trailer!

How about going through Globe. Drop trailer at Forest service cg by Roosevelt Lake and then do the trail. Beautiful road from Globe to Roosevelt.
