Hwy 30 back toward Portland. Cross the bridge at Longview, pick up I5 south to Salem. 22 east and follow the signs to Silver falls state park. Continue east on 22 to Bend and 97 south. This will drop you back onto I5 at Weed. Be sure to plan a few days around Bend at either Tumalo or Lapine state parks. Great site seeing and some lava tube exploring in the area. From 97 it is a short shot up the hill to Crater Lake. Plan to stay at Diamond Lake for your visit. They are only a few miles apart. Retrace your steps back to 97 south to head home. In August you will want reservations for sure.
