AGC - We're south of you so we usually take the PA Turnpike to I70 to I74 to I80. From northern NJ, it makes better sense just to use I80. When we have done that, we stayed on I80 across IA to I29 north to I90 at Sioux Falls. Some folks on the forum take I35 north in IA to join I90 earlier. I don't see why you would use I94 as that takes you way north across ND and you want to visit the Badlands and Black Hills in SD.
After the Hills, take I90 to Buffalo, WY then route 16 over the Bighorn Mountains to Cody and in the East Entrance of Yellowstone. Use lower gears on the steep descents to save your brakes. Going over the Bighorns isn't a big deal and many RVs do it every day, but if you are uncomfortable with mountain driving you can stay on I90 to Livingston, MT then down route 89 to Yellowstone's north entrance. If you decide to do that, make a stop at the Little Bighorn Battlefield (Custer's Last Stand). It's adjacent to I90 shortly before Crow Agency in MT.
If you head down to Grand Teton after Yellowstone, you can make a loop of the trip by taking route 26 from Moran Junction to Shoshoni then route 20 to pick up I25 at Casper. I25 will take you to I80, or if you have the time, pick up route 26 again to see the Oregon Trail ruts at Guernsey, WY and then stop at Fort Laramie. Route 26 follows the route of the Oregon Trail along the North Platte River and passes Scotts Bluff and Chimney Rock before rejoining I80 at Ogallala, NE.
