My wife and I are first time RV'ers driving from NJ to Yellowstone with 2 kids (11 & 9) this August. What are some of the attractions not to be missed along the way? We're thinking of doing day stops and/or 1 or 2 nights at a campground in between.
Any suggestions?
That will be a great trip. Y'all will want to see YNP again and again. Personally I would mostly stop for sleeping and get on across to the Badlands, Custer State Park and Mt Rushmore where you will want to spend a few days. Then go to Devil's Tower, Cody, and then spend 4-5 days in Yellowstone. Go south to Grand Tetons for a couple of days. Make sure to take your toad over the Beartooth HWY from YNP to Red Lodge, MT. Awesome drive.
I realize traveling with kids that age they get bored so you may have to stop for some diversion but I would save as much time as possible for the Western sights. They are awesome!
Have fun just playing with those kids. The memories are invaluable!
