Just drove this route a few weeks ago. Fairly flat, all good road. Very little traffic. A much nicer drive than I-40.
Seligman and Ash Fork are small towns with several nostalgic shops and restaurants.
Near Valentine,AZ is an animal rescue sanctuary. Well worth the stop. Lots of exotic animals of every kind.

East on I-40 another small stretch of 66 runs thru Williams. A very fun old route 66 town. Lots of shops, cafes, zip line, Bearizona animal safari etc.
