Old Rt 66 to Santa Fe, NM
Is the old Rt 66 alignment to Santa Fe safe for RVs? I've read there are some steep grades. If it's anything like the eastside approach to Oatman AZ, I'd prefer to avoid it.

- This might be of help to you, New Mexico true.

- Do you have a clear idea of where the route went? In some areas the 66 has had several different alignments. One alignment just west of Santa Fe (La Bajada) is difficult even with 4x4, and now is actually off limits to even hikers.

I'd suggest asking about modern route names, rather than depend on some 'old route 66' description.
In the 1930's an alternative was built that bypassed Santa Fe entirely (close to I40 between Santa Rosa and Albuquerque):
