Many BC REC sites are not free. For example:
Mcculloch ReservoirGreeny Lake NorthAs for the PP increase, it does not affect me that much as we only stated a total of 3 nights in a PP in the last 2 years and these stays were for a very specific reason. In general, the good thing about BC is that there are many free places to camp if you know where to look.
