Bakersfield, CA to Houston, TX advice/suggestions...

Planning a trip with our travel trailer (27') for this time next year. As I'm looking at a map, there are a couple of routes to choose from. We'd leave early enough so we can stay and enjoy the sites ...

Traveled I-40 from Flagstaff to Barstow in March. Road is in terrible condition in a lot of places. I-10 is in better condition. If you go thru Phoenix, late morning, early afternoon is best.

Traveled on I-40 east of Flagstaff for about 30 miles, that stretch was in better condition. I-40 in California, sucks, pure and simple.
