take loop around Indy and go straight thru columbus

Where is the 495?

I though I saw the 495 was the beltway around Indy? Maybe I am imagining this!

I think he's talking about I-465.

The answer to your question depends on the time of day and the day that you will be traveling thru/around each city. Myself, I usually drive to avoid rush hours and go through the city unless my google maps on my phone shows traffic congestion.

I recall the day last year I went through Indy on Sunday. Thought direct was good. Never thought about Colts game or where it was that day. Got right into that area at 4:15. Ooops.

If going thru IN on I-70, I-465 around the South side of Indy is usually best. I-70 thru town is barely shorter and has some strange merges. 4:30 to 6:00 is bad anywhere M-F.

I stay on I-70 through Columbus.
