Best CA route into Yosemite from the North

We generally enter Yosemtie from the South going through Coarsegold but on this trip we will be coming in from further North "Oakdale."
I will be pulling a 34 foot fifth wheel and wanted advice on the difficulty of the routes coming in from that direction.
Is there any more issues, I hate to drive the extra distance but should I drop down South and come in my usual route?
  • If your overall length is greater than 45', you can't use 140 due to restrictions. 120 into Yosemite is only a problem in the winter. You'll hit 6000' at Crane Flat and chains may be required.
  • Personally I prefer 140. Not as steep or curvy as 120 and not as much traffic. There is only about a 5 minute time difference between the two routes even though it is about 20 miles longer using 140.
  • Take 120 from 99 in Manteca all the way into Yosemite. It is a good route. You will not have problems on the New Priest Grade going up or down.
