- BuckBarkerExplorerAre you going for graduation?
- sigbowmanExplorerWe just drove Tampa-Oklahoma City in a 30' Class A towing a Jeep. No problems on I-10 but did avoid rush hour in Tallahassee, Mobile, Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Bypassed New Orleans area on I-12. Nice drive on I-49 from Lafayette to Shreveport. I-20 was OK, but I-635 Dallas bypass has major construction on north side. Definitely will avoid I-635 next time. Also, we encountered the normal heavy traffic between Dallas and Denton on I-35E. Since Lawton is your destination, you may want to check if highway 281 is your best option (goes north from I-20 to Wichita Falls, Texas, and into Oklahoma).
We had no problems finding gasoline or concerns about height, including the tunnel in downtown Mobile. - sdianel_-acct_cExplorerWe go there every year. We take I-10 to I-49 in LA. I-49 to I-20. About Tyler TX, take I-69 North to Greenville TX then pickup US 380 West to Decatur TX, then I-287 North thru Wichita Falls TX then hop on I-44 to Lawton.
We usually fill up at half a tank so we don't have to worry about finding fuel. Look for truck stops on the interstate highways. We like Flying J, Pilot or Loves. Petro and TA "so-so"
Flying J I-10 exit 192.
Pilot Travel Center I-20 at Tyler TX.
Loves exit I-20 exit 209 Shreveport LA.
Loves Hwy 287 Wichita Falls, TX
Also: Check websites for: Pilot Flying J Travel Centers
TA truck stops
Petro Truck Stops
Loves Truck Stops
Do you need campground recommendations? - bluetang54ExplorerThe information you folks have sent was very informative. I will check out the travels you advised of. We have some family to see and mother nature is very active. I like the graduation question , we can always have another graduation , the ole farts graduate again. but thanks again.

I-635 to I-35E
I-35E to US-380

There are no bridges or overpasses on this route that will be factor for a legal-height motorhome, if you follow truck routes where marked in any towns you go through.
But I know where to find one in Wichita Falls that is too low for some 4x4 pickup trucks. It is on a back street, not a highway or designated route. - FordDiesel250ExplorerThey gave you the best routes. We traveled from Panama City to Iowa Park which is 15 miles west of Wichita Falls for the past 25 years. If you want a good campground in Lawton look at Doris campground in the Wichita Mountains. You will not be disappointed.
