Best route from Bakersfield to Desert Hot Springs in Nov.
I see Barstow over 15 to 10, but am wondering what the non-freeway choices are like, especially this time of year. We will be in Bakersfield this week. Thanks!

It is a bit longer but route east and through Amboy is my choice over the traffic. One pretty good pull but can handle it. Then have Wonder Valley into Twentynine Palms. Good down hill into D.H.S. so watch speed and lane position. Get in left lane for Indian Canyon at first sign.
