But DO be prepared for snow on I-40. It can get ugly. Not Wyoming ugly, but still bad. Keep an eye on the weather forecasts and be prepared to stop somewhere an extra day or 2 as needed. The good news is that snow and ice usually doesn't stick around more than a couple of days in this part of the world.
Also there is so much traffic on I-40 that one pile-up can keep you stuck for many many hours. Be prepared with plenty of gas, blankets, food, water, and TP in the tow vehicle.
