Best route from Philadelphia, PA to New Haven, CT

We are traveling to New Haven,Connecticut from Timberlane Campground outside Philadelphia (I-295) for the first time in our 36' Fifth Wheel. What is the best route to avoid NYC, low bridges, tunnels, ...

I agree with Matt; follow 287 to Tappan Zee Bridge and North on 95. You definitely want to avoid the GW Bridge in NYC if you can, never a pleasant ride with or without trailer.
