I live in Middle Tennessee and these directions are spot on and what I would do.

My advice is to take Briley Parkway (SR-155) from I-65, over to I-40 eastbound. Then take exit 288 in Cookeville. Go south on TN 111, then take TN 284 into the park. That takes you in on the side of the park closer to the campgrounds. Farther east, 284 is pretty crooked and you will not want to take the 5th wheel through there.
Stock up on groceries etc in Cookeville.
