- md_procoupleExplorerHi We stayed at a C/G, called Whispering Hill RV. Park, it's in Georgetown KY. About 45 min. to an hour out of Louisville. Nice park good size lots. They also have a Camping World store near by. Good Luck and Happy Camping !!
- WrightOnExplorerIn two weeks, we are staying at Deam Lake State Park about 30 minutes northwest of Louisville. I will be able to give a review after that. http://www.in.gov/dnr/forestry/4825.htm
- STBRetiredExplorerTry RVParkReviews and put in Louisville, Kentucky. I have found that the reviews there are fairly spot on.
I, too, like Whispering Hills, but that is quite a ways from Louisville. Much closer to Lexington. - IT_BurnoutExplorerNot trying to change the focus of your thread.
But be advised the new bridge over the Ohio River in Louisville is now a toll road with NO toll booths. In heave traffic I don’t remember even seeing any signs to that effect, but that’s probably on me. If you don’t have a transponder from RiverLink you will get a bill in the mail, sometime after the fact. Just ask me how I know that little tidbit. For a standard 2 axel vehicle its $2.00 a crossing. With no transponder they double the price to $4.00. Probably not a big deal, in the grand scheme of things. But in my case an annoyance just the same. Just seems like a good way to pay for a bridge by nailing people double that are just passing through and don’t know any better. When I called on the issue saying hey no toll booth on the freeway, even with signs I had no recourse but to go over the bridge and yet you charge me double. The answer given was we can’t put a tool booth up and hinder traffic on I65. Which makes sense, I guess. So now I have a transponder I will use twice a year for our run to our place in Florida which cost $25.00 or $30.00. For what I have tied up in that I could pay the double fee for almost 4 years. I guess it is what it is, and as the DW said suck it up and move on. - md_procoupleExplorerHey IT Burnout... All states are gonna get you any way they can.., We travel to IN. once or twice a year, and have the same problem, I guess it is what it is... Good Luck and Happy Camping !!
- ADAD437Explorerdepends where you want to be, there is a koa just before the bridge, there is a nice secluded park about 5 miles north of the river, add more rv park, if you want to be south there is some about 12 miles south.
- johnhicksExplorerWe're at Charlestown SP across the river. It has some FHU sites and while there's hardly any vegetation between sites the FHU sites are rather wide. The w/e sites are smaller and just in a row. It's nice and very well-maintained.
BTW, Addmore doesn't accept RVs more than 15 years old. - melandmeExplorerYou may want to look at Taylorsville Lake State Park. 30 minutes to the east end of Jefferson county and 45 minutes to downtown. $25 a night. Very large sites in a very rural setting. Close to Bardstown, My Old KY Home and the bourbon trail.
- jnharleyExplorerWe stop Grandma's RV Park in Shepherdsville just south of Louisville. It is easy on/off the interstate, near shopping and fuel (one exit north), and adequate for our needs. The sites are close together and they do have some long term Rvers but their sites are well kept. The rules are enforced in this campground so some people do not like that. An example, if you have a pet, you cannot allow it to pee on the landscaping. There is a nice place to walk pets. We stop there multiple times a year and have never had an issue but others report that they have had a run in with Grandpa. It is not a destination type campground if that is what you are looking for but ok for a night or two.
