Best route to Fort Wilderness

What is the best route to Fort Wilderness from IH10 in motorhome that is towing?

Don't men to hijack but do any of you have site recommendations? We have never been there but are planning to go next year. I noticed they have many different site size/price options. Are they worth more money? Are the cheaper sites really tiny? Thanks

We like the preferred sites. They are near the general store, the Settlement, and the boat. They are the medium sized sites, and are very nice. The Premium lots are bigger by a decent amount, and are bigger loops, so you may prefer them, especially if you want to be closer to the pool and the campfire singalong. The lowest cost sites are the least conveniently located, and the smallest. But they are still nice. They are all really good sites, but for the price difference, I'd go for either the preferred or Premium sites depending on the size you want/need, as well as location. You have the best choice of location with the premium lots. Plus, if you have a pet, you have more options with the premium lots as only one loop for the Preferred sites (loop 300) allows pets.

Take the western way (toll road) off of the FL turnpike. Drops you off right at Animal Kingdom.

Western Way is the road that comes off of Rt429 (Western Beltway). So, from I-75, you'll need to take the turnpike South to Rt 429 South. Continue South on 429, past the New Independence Parkway toll. You'll see signs for Disney World/Hartzog Rd. Just take that exit, following the signs to Disney. THAT exit will put you on Western way, and you'll drive behind the Animal Kingdom past Coronado Springs. At the light next to Coronado Springs, turn left onto Buena Vista Parkway. Stay in the left lane, and then follow the sign to exit onto World drive towards Magic Kingdom. The rest you've done before. Enjoy.

  • We have been there before and followed US 27. Just wondered if there was a better way into Disney. If I remember correctly US 27 had multiple stop lights. I was wondering if it was better to stay on the toll longer and use some of the other highways to the entrance.
  • When we went to Disney World we made a wrong turn someplace in Orlando. We finally parked in a shopping center and called the Fort Wilderness office and got directions. The wrong turn was my CEO/Navigator's fault. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Get in the neighborhood and follow the signs! Don't worry they won't loose you:B

  • What is the best way to go after I75? Exit on US27, 429, 535 or I4?
