Alpine Western Wilderness TC?

Looking at a large 11+ foot 1986 WW and told it has aluminum studs.
Anyone know if they made anything with aluminum instead of wood?
I did not think so and if not I think this would be way to heavy.
Inside is really clean and looks like it has had very little use but the exterior of the box looks a little wonky so did not buy it. Curious.
  • I wonder if it is just that I live in the south, ( So Calif), or if my 1972 El Dorado is just an exception.
BUT...it has been a great unit, and although as heavy as you will ever see, quite comfy!

  • Sort of feel like I should have taken his price and run with it but I decided to try to negotiate a lower price. The ad for this rig is still active and the location is way out in the boonies so he may still call me back. I like the lower price so no worries.. to be continued:
  • I use a 1987 Vacationeer, I was going to upgrade later to a 2000-something camper and never did decide to throw away the $$!
Model year isn't as important as condition. And condition isn't as important as price!!
  • Thanks guys. I made an offer and will update you if accepted.
This rig is really sweet but it's the 1986 that bugs me. For now it would do and I can always update to that 2000 Lance I cannot currently afford. As always, appreciate all the feedback.
  • I own a 86 11ft western wilderness camper. Have had it since 1990.
Aluminum frame. It has been a good camper but I had to store it outdoors and the siding is delaminating. I think if its stored indoors out of the sun they
    do better.
  • Everythong Alpemlite made was of aluminum. Its one of the things that made them superior to anything else made at the time.
  • Aluminum studs aren't necessarily heavier or lighter. You should be able to see the studs in the outside compartments, around the fridge, etc.
