best route Yosemite to Vegas - route 168

I will drive in June with a RV (22ft) from Yosemite via route 395 to Las Vegas. The rental company does not allow me to drive through Dead Valley. Which route can you advice me to take? It'll be my first time driving a RV.
I was thinking about driving the 395 to Big Pine, then the 168 onto the 266 and via the 95 to Vegas. On the map I see that the 168 is very windy and I believe I need to cross some high elevation.
Would that route be OK or do you suggest another route? Has anybody driven on the 168?

With the 22 foot RV you should have no issues taking California State Route 120 over Tioga Pass from Yosemite valley to US 395 at Lee Vining. From there stay on 120 to Benton and then US 6 to US 95 between Mina and Tonopah. After that stay on US 95 all the way to Las Vegas. You will avoid Death Valley.

Unless you want the scenic route I would take 120 out of Yosemite to hwy 6 to Coaldale, NV then95 to LV.Pretty easy route.

I have seen some people go 395 south to 58 to Barstow then I 15 north to LV.

You'd be happier taking 6 into Nevada than 168, even in a small RV. 168 follows a dry stream much of the way, with lots of curves and even dips when it crosses the dry stream bed.

Crossing over to 95 makes sense, though I doubt if the restriction on Death Valley applies to US395. It would apply though to routes from 395 through the Park.

This year, 120 over Tioga Pass may not open until mid-June -- we have had a lot of snow!!

Vegas...ok. The Eastern Sierras...wow. Why drive through this world class area? Yosemite etc. is the western side. Try the eastern side too.

Might be even later than that, I have 12' of standing snow in my yard right now and I am only at 6800' elevation. Southern Sierra has even more than we have in the Tahoe area, so it might be way later than normal for a Tioga opening this year.

If Vegas is just to see Vegas, I'd much prefer to explore the Sierra.

Take Tioga pass over then have some lunch near Mono Lake before heading over to Bode. Then go North, taking a road either into South Lake Tahoe or North Shore. The Tahoe trip would give some of the feel of Vegas but still be in a world class, alpine area. Reno and Carson City are ok - in fact - they are probably more reminiscent of "classic" Las Vegas.

The Walker River will be extraordinary this year and will be a reassuring site through a good part of the trip.

Litch, did you mean 12 inches or 12 feet?? The difference between an apostrophe and quotation marks can be significant -- check out the Stonehenge scene in Spinal Tap on youtube!!

12 feet is only 144 inches. Many Sierra ski resorts report depths like that. Depths around Truckee will vary significantly with altitude.
