Best trip planner

I was a big fan of Streets and Trips on a laptop for travels but they have ended service. I preferred it to a GPS.

Is there a good alternative using a laptop. A program that shows campground would be even better. Jim

  • Delorme Streets and Trips is just about the only other option.

I preferred the MS Streets interface but you can get used to the new interface fairly quickly. Some campgrounds are shown on the maps but by no means most of them. I don't like the way parks and such are shown on DeLorme but to be frank it is all that there is now that MS dumped S&T.

I thought that some company named Pilot (maybe) made navigation software aimed at truckers but I haven't found it. Ah wait it's CoPilot not Pilot:

It is aimed at truckers tho. But there is a free app that works on some tablets:

It does not work on the Kindle Fire but I don't know if that has a GPS.

I was finding S&T 2013 to be getting more and more out of date myself.
  • I still use my 2008 Streets and Trips. Still the best thing there for building a long trip. Mainly stay at government campgrounds which don't change often. Since my trip planning is mainly to just see how many days it takes, it works well.

Problem with anything online, is I can't update when on the road without wifi. but still can with S&T.
