If you are down at the Bay Bridge Tunnel, you are going out of your way for Williamsburg.
301 is a viable alternative. You can take it to 17S to Yorktown. Or you can take it down to 295 to 64.
The easiest is definitely 695 over the Key Bridge and back on 95S to 295 to 64, but that is completely dependent on what time of day you are heading down.
I used to live in Annapolis and had a farm in Surry, a ferry ride across the James from Williamsburg. Heading south, if it was before noon when leaving Annapolis area, I could take 95S; otherwise I took 301. Unless it was Sunday. Sundays I could pretty much take 95S at any time. Unless there was a Redskin Game.
If you take 301S, at Bowling Green, follow the signs to 95S rather than staying on 301. At that point, 301 becomes one lane each way and, if your luck is as good as mine, you WILL end up behind a 95 year old man/woman going half the speed limit. For miles.
