Best Way to Carnation WA from I5

For mid day travel. We've taken I5 up to 18 and on up to Carnation. Would 512 to 167 be a better alternative than I5 through Tacoma? How is 507 out of Centralia to 512 vs Olympia?

507 out of Centraila is doable but I would go a little further North and take Exit #88 and go east. That is old Hy 99, straight and decent road and joins 507 at Tenino.

If you are feeling your Wheaties you can go North a short way on 7 to the 702 and 176th St Jct. and turn right on 176th. Few miles East and Turn North on Canyon Rd to 512.

Just remember that traffic is like squeezing a bag of water. Some days you win, some days you don't.
  • SR 507 isn't too bad until you get to Parkland. Traffic slows with traffic and traffic signals.
SR 512 to SR 167 is good during off peak hours.
Use SR 18( short section between I-90 and SR 203 is a county parkway)from SR 167 up to SR 202 and then SR 203 into Carnation.
Much easier to bypass from Olympis all the way! Not really any good time on I-5 and I-405!
