Best/safest route from Phoenix to South Lake Tahoe Dec 1 ?

We are pulling a 22' travel trailer from Peoria, AZ, (NW of Phoenix) to South Lake Tahoe. Camping in Tahoe for the ski season. Any suggestions on a safe, no chains route would be appreciated. Arnie

Thanks. Yes, going early to get set up. Hoping for lots of snow but after we get there.
