Hey I'm visiting Phoenix in February and looking for side trip ideas. Nothing too ambitious — Grand Canyon too far. Are there any interesting but under-the-radar destinations outside of the Valley of the Sun that are worth a one- or two-night stay? Thanks!
Other than Grand Canyon, Sedona is the first place that comes to mind. It's 2 hours north of Phoenix. Check the weather before you travel there. Snow is possible.
Tucson, a couple hours south of Phoenix, has plenty to see and do. And south of there is Kartchner Caverns State Park in Benson. Tombstone and Bisbee might be of interest also.
By the way, any place that is scenic and interesting is not going to be "under-the-radar".
I agree with checking out Sedona. My husband and I will be heading in that direction in February as well. Hoping to ideal weather. 🙂
