If you have to drive over the double yellow line at any time, for any reason you should NOT be on that road! To do so is stupid, dangerous and illegal. Much of the BRP is not engineered for large RV's.... Get over it (and yourself), and drive/enjoy it safely from your Toad.

Get over it (and yourself)? What kind of STUPID response is that? I am asking PRIOR to my trip so that I will know what to do & avoid. I did not ask for smart a$$ responses. - Desert_CaptainExplorer III

That post was not directed at you. Others advised driving large rigs and crossing the double yellow. This has come up before from the BRP to Highway 1.
A large motor home cannot be driven on the BRP without doing so and it remains stupid dangerous and illegal. Crossing a double yellow line into potentially on coming traffic is insane.
Why not drive it safely from a smaller coach or Toad? Sorry you missed my point and were offended, not my intention.

Sorry. - Jim_ShoeExplorerI drove it once, but I wasn't in my 'C' pulling a Jeep Wrangler four down. I was driving my Mom in her Ford Taurus to Florida for the winter and flying home. I thought at the time that if I met another setup like mine in those tunnels, I would have to unhook the Jeep, back it out, then back the 'C' out, turn everything around and go back the way I came.
Absolutely beautiful drive, however. I couldn't help but wonder how the first settlers in their horse drawn wagons ever got over those mountains. - Jim_ShoeExplorerDouble post. Sorry.

I drove the complete BRP and the Skyline Drive in my 39' motorhome. No problems and a great, scenic drive. I highly recommend it. Don't let anyone mislead you on the tunnels.

Where was the mislead about the tunnels?
In other subject threads on this forum and other RV forums.

You give the length of yours but fail to state the height. It's 11'5", unless you have modified it.
I'm a few inches higher than 11'5" with a roof top satellite dish. But I do have a ~3' CB antenna on the driver's side. That antenna never hit the roof of any tunnel.
Anyway, as I stated, one can drive the complete BRP with an RV. Although, stay towards the center in most tunnels, as you stated.
-Tom - wanderingbobExplorer IIIf ya like the BRP consider the Natchez Trace for next year ! Kinda nice in a different kinda way , Nashville on one end and Natchez on tuh udder !
