I think my post had to do with people's possessions being taken from the rightful owner without warning or notice and sold at auction - seemed like the topic to me??

Briansue: I am really surprised at your post. Way off topic. Not your style. What has this to do with a Government taking boats with armed police?. HOA's are more like an NGO's. Totally different. HOA's are run by Nazi's! But if you want examples of how Governments seize vehicles about 15 years ago an Ontario couple returned from a winter in Florida. Retirees. They got to the border and drugs were found under the unit. Apparently a nephew arranged for the transportation of the drugs. I don't remember the whole story but it was us customs that stopped them The MH was seized and the owners could not get it back. Went to auction.

Francesca: There are thousands of expats in Mexico with illegal cars. Some came here before the hologram program. Others simply overstayed their permits. There are also hundreds of thousands of Mexicans with illegal cars. Called Chocolates! In some cities there are lots with these cars for sale! The truth is that Mexico cannot control the borders even with holograms and bonds.

Believe it or not, we know several people in RV's that either moved their TIP physically from one coach to another, and others that just didn't bother to get permits at all. Idiots!
We haven't had anyone check to see if we have a TIP since we got this vehicle in 2012. We did the paperwork on line.

Weird things happening in the US too. How they can do this I do not know. You think there would be a law. But apparently this has happened in several states.

Given the stiffness of the rules per over-the-road vehicles I've read about here, it's hard to believe that there could be many "unregistered" RV's owned by NA expats in Mexico.....
