Boise Idaho to Albuquerque NM in March

Anyone travel from the Boise Idaho area to Albuquerque NM area in March? We're thinking of taking a two week trip that time of year to visit family but concerned it may be too early in the season and we would encounter snowy weather on the road.
  • Thanks Texan! - Is going through LV the only way at the time of year, given the possible weather? What about Ely to I-15, connecting near Filmore, UT then south through St. George, through Kanab and down through Flagstaff then I-40 across?
  • Renee, just came that way and Have traveled the same route in the early spring. Like paulj said, if there is snow, it is "normally" just a small amount and gone in a few hours. Will be coming home in Jan for a couple weeks ice fishing and then back through LV to Yuma. Take US-93 to Ely, US-6 west, to NV-318 south, back to US-93 and then to I-15 and LV. We can drive from Cascade to LV in one day going that way.
  • paulj - thank you. Last time we traveled to Albuquerque, we went through Twin Falls, Jackpot, Wells, and down through the Great Basin area and on over through Ogden. I'll double check the map for that route through Vegas. Maybe we will take that route then down through Palm Springs and on to Albuquerque.
  • The highest spot on that route would be I84 on the Idaho/Utah state border. That's a broad summit, with winds being more of a worry than anything else.

US93 south from Twin Falls would be an alternative. People often use that as an alternative to I15 when headed south to Vegas.
  • I have seen snow in March but it was mostly a small amount
