A friend of mine (my mother's next-door neighbor) has boondocked up and down Baja every summer for the last 40 years. He and his wife stopped doing so last year, after some difficult experiences. He and I are both very sad -- he is sorry that he can't do what he wants to do anymore.
I am even sorrier than he is, because I discovered RV travel in 2005 and discovered boondocking in 2008, just after things started to go downhill in Baja. Although we drove to San Ignacio and back in 2006 (without my trailer), I can't in good conscience take my wife boondocking on the beach down there. We are surfers, so you can imagine the sense of loss for something we never had.
