- lakeside013104ExplorerThere is NO duty on wine. The IRT (Internal Revenue Tax) is based on alcohol content and size of the bottle. There is a very complicated formula to calculate IRT on wine, so for general information you could figure from $.17 to $.36 for the average sized bottle of wine. Do the math: 10 average bottles of wine would be IRT of $3.60 +/-.
The bigger issue is the regulations of the particular State that you are entering as far as the total volume of alcohol allowed to be transported in any given vehicle at any given time. The regulations vary by State.
Crossing the border into the U.S. with 10 bottles of wine for personal consumption is low on the border guards priority when you consider their main mission is to prevent terrorists, “weapons of mass effect”, criminals, and loads of illegal contraband from entering this country. Enjoy your wine and have a nice day.

And really, who in their right mind would smuggle wine from Mexico into the US?
ROFL. :B - voodoo101ExplorerThanks all. We are just in the habit of dragging wine with us for convenience wherever we go until we get around to shopping. Don't have any intentions of smuggling, which is why I asked the limit and the duty in case we brought more and needed to declare it.

They don't seem to bother Canadian heading north, just make sure you drink most of it before you cross back into Canada. :B - GalvanizdExplorerBill,
At the Lukeville crossing, no ones ever inspected for wine or alcohol. Doesn't mean they can't or won't but we've never had a problem with amounts. They do have an agriculture inspection that is sometmes working but even then they never asked.
I have no idea what the per person wine limit might be.
Also, in Rocky Point they have a new Sams Club. I checked the wine selection out the other day and its not too bad and the prices are fairly reasonable. - snarleyExplorer8+ years , never been asked . Always enter at Nogales

- crandleExplorerGoing from US into MX, I have never been asked.
- clarlkExplorerIf you declare your Booze no Limit pay duty and good to Go, you bring in a pallet worth and you will be needing a Broker.. coming in to Mexico it was 3 liters.. then you payed taxes over that..
